Izard Park is off Wilton Road in Wilton, Wellington, New Zealand.

Izard Park is a pleasant, flat, grassy area of moderate size. It has a children’s playground at the South end, where dogs are not permitted. There is some fencing on the West side and a low fence on the road side. On the north side are trees and bushes, with some tracks leading downhill.

- Water: not in the park, but there’s a steep slope beside the park and there could be a stream at the bottom.
Delights
- The song of tui in the trees around the boundary.
Dangers
- No known dangers.
Cautions
- Dogs could run out to the busy road.
- Rabbit poop.
- Dogs are not allowed in the children’s playground, but there are no barriers to separate the playground from the off-leash area.
Road access
The main access is from Wilton Road, opposite the corner with Norwich Street. Pedestrian access also by steps from Churchill Drive.
Wilton Road is busy, and it’s not easy to turn if you miss the park. Best turning place is at Otari Plant Museum, further south on Wilton Road.
Parking is tricky — you need to find a place on the streets nearby.

The street lights shine onto the park a fair bit but most of their light is focussed on the road.
Izard Park is a rare find – an offlead exercise area that has playground equipment for the kids!
