Description
Kainui Reserve — Treasure Island is a small patch of grass across from Cog Park in Evans Bay. It’s right beside Evans Bay Parade, a very busy road. While there is some fencing, it doesn’t enclose the park and any dog could easily run onto the road.
A more enjoyable walk would be to put the dog back on the lead and stroll around Cog Park then along to the section of coast behind the waterfront restaurant / cafe and along to behind NIWA and back again.
There is a Little Blue Penguin colony in that section and people go fishing there, leaving hooks, lines and bait lying around. Be sure to keep your dog on-leash and watch it carefully.
Kainui Reserve – Treasure Island off-leash area and more. The fence along the road is good, but any dog could easily run around it as it doesn’t fully enclose the area. This picture show pretty much the whole off-leash area plus areas that aren’t off-leash.
